Life happens and time passes. It's easy to get caught up in the motion and forget to verbally remind those close to you (at the heart or physically close) how much they truly mean to you. When you have some downtime, grab a pen and notecard or open up your texts to send a message of love to a friend, family member, and/or significant other. After all, it's the little things that keep love alive and nothing is more simple and heartwarming than words of affirmation.

If you don't find yourself to be well with your words or fall into a writer block as you're about to verbalize your thoughts, no stress. Here's some inspiration for crafting together the perfect message.

A Message For Him

A simple text (or email. To each's own):

  • Smiling at nothing, thinking of you.
  • I'm craving your energy right now.
  • I still smile at your name lighting up my phone.
  • You deserve all of the good that you give out and then some.
  • I can't wait to hear your voice when I get home
  • Your hugs are so warm.
  • Loving you a little extra today, I hope your day is going well.
  • Replaying in my head the way your eyes lock into mine. I get butterflies every time.
  • I miss you. Counting down the days until I can feel your touch again.

A Message For Her

A simple text (and yes, email still applies):

  • If only you could see yourself through my eyes. You'd understand why I wouldn't dare not to love you.
  • You're who I look for the moment I walk into a room.
  • Your smile is all I need some days.
  • I woke up smiling this morning because of you.
  • Just writing to remind you that I love you.
  • Your love is what drives me to be better.
  • Meet me ______ after work. Let's spend real time together.
  • I want to get to know you more.
  • I don't ever want to stop getting to know who you are.

For THAT Friend

Type them a little something like:

  • I hope life is being kind to you lately.
  • How's your day? Should meet up for food and drinks after work to catch up?
  • Just saying hello. Enjoy your day!
  • *venmo them a little ($5-$10max) something for a coffee or tea*
  • Our song just came on in the store I'm at. Miss you!
  • Thinking of you always. Let's get on the phone and talk soon.
  • Just a reminder that I'm eternally grateful for you and our friendship.
  • I know that we don't talk or see each other all of the time but that doesn't make us any less of best friends. I love you.

Writing To A Family Member

Send them something cute like:

  • Goodmorning <3 Have a lovely day!
  • Can I pick up anything for you while I'm out?
  • Hungry? Let's have dinner tonight.
  • I'm so proud of you for how hard you've been working this past month.
  • Thanks for always being there for me when I need you.
  • Everything that you do for me doesn't ever go unnoticed. I truly appreciate it all.
  • I came across this show that I think you would love!
  • Let's plan a weekend away soon with the whole family.
  • How are you doing? Truly.

Go the Extra Mile (quite literally) With a Letter

Now, don't get intimidated by the term letter. This doesn't have to be some long handwritten note that needs a coffee on the side while reading. This could be anything from one of those messages above, a cute love quote, or a few sentences of how grateful you are for said person.

Consider love quotes like:

  • "You can't blame gravity for falling in love." – Albert Einstein
  • "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love." – Mother Teresa
  • "Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead." – Oscar Wilde
  • "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides." – David Viscott
  • "Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own." – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
  • The best thing to hold onto in life is each other." – Audrey Hepburn
  • "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you." – Mr. Darcy, "Pride and Prejudice"

And for the less romantic relationships in your life:

  • “Stay close to people who feel like sunlight.” - unknown
  • “Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” - Misty Copeland
  • “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • “It's not that diamonds are a girl's best friend, but it's your best friends who are your diamonds.” - Gina Berreca
  • “The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.” - Elisabeth Foley
  • “Home is where you are loved the most and act the worst.” - Marjori Pay Hinckley
  • “I learned that you can never ever have enough quality time with Mom.” - Jeannie Mai Jenkins
  • “Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family.” - Anthony Brandt
