DIY Decor Is EVERYTHING

Give your wallet a break and have fun preparing for you soiree with DIY decor. That means letting your creative brain take over and sorting through Amazon and Dollar Tree. Yes, this takes time and patience, but it's worth it.

Lifestyle influencer, Rachel Ostroy, shared, "Avoid expensive places and do your research!” she continued. “There are many places that offer affordable dupes to beautiful decor pieces, ingredients, and more."

For example, make your way into a Dollar Tree and check out the glassware. Once you find pieces that match the style you're going for, check out what they have to fill it such as candles or potpourri.

And, to add to the ambiance, get yourself a pack of string lights. Amazon sells all different kinds for as low as $10. However, read the reviews and purchase an extra box if a pack comes with a broken bulb.

Ostroy recommends offering three specialty drinks that can be universal that way you don't have to purchase multiple bottles of [different] alcohol, which adds up fast. She shared, “For example, when it comes to wine, everyone has preference! A great way to choose a universal drink that a majority of your guests could enjoy would be to make a quick and easy sangria. Slice up some cubed fruit, add your alcohol, fill a dispenser or bucket, and you’re good to go.”

Another option is giving your guests the option to bring their own drinks. You can throw in a witty yet graceful message in the invite, "Bring yourself and a spirit that best represents you," or something like that.

Everyone's Favorite: The Food

Less is more here. And no, I don't mean less food. Save yourself money by creating simple dishes from the comfort of home rather than ordering in. Ostroy advises to find recipes with five major ingredients or less (to keep your wallet happy) and one that takes only five steps or less (to make your job less work and more enjoyable.)

Set The Table

The table setting is everything. I mean, c'mon, food models just as much as people nowadays and it needs just as great of a backdrop as you do.

Forget the plastic wear and paper plates. Instead, go to your local flea marker and create your own set of mix-and-match plates. This will not only look trendy and photogenic but, you can choose tableware that best fits you and your style to continue to use for future gatherings.

Make your way back to the dollar store for glass water jugs to place throughout the table and simple glasses for everyone's beverage.

Other cheap finds that'll give your table that upscale look are faux flowers, tea lights, and wide cuts of fabric [of your choice] from your local craft store. Use the fabric for your tablecloth, napkins, table runner, place mats and more.
