For Those Days That Get Ahead Of You: Multiple Tricks For Speed Cleaning The House

It’s often that the day, or even week, get’s ahead of us and the window of time that we expected to have for a good deep clean has disappeared. It’s now 9 AM on the Friday of your holiday guests arriving and you need to make your home looks tidy [at the least.]

Utilize Closet Space

If there is a door to hide behind, use it. Stash loose clothing, coats, or shoes in your closets to remove any visual clutter that could be stressful to look at.

Straighten Up

Fluff the pillows and sofa cushions of all of your seating. Also, neatly fold all visible throw blankets to give the room a more polished look.

And, don’t forget about towels. Check the bathroom for any loose ones you can throw into a hamper or hand towels that need to be re-folded.

Remove All Garbage

Empty all waste baskets throughout the house and put the garbage into a pale outside. Have fresh bags and buckets everywhere.

Hide Any Hazards

Clear out any loose toys (dogs or kids) and put them back in their respective homes.

Also, hide as much technology and wires as you can.

Clear Out the Dust Bunnies

Grab the hand vacuum and quickly suck up any visible dust bunnies hiding on book shelves, corners or ledges.

Give the Kitchen Extra Love

Yes, we are rushing but, the kitchen is where everyone typically gathers. It’s also where the food happens. Make sure to remove any food stains, crumbs or food left out.

Organize the fridge and pantry a little bit to make grabbing drinks and snacks easily accessible to your guests.

A Quick Sweep

Polish off your hand vacuum work with a sweep of the floors, steps, and porch. And, shake out any mats your have as well.

Wipe it Down

Use clean smelling products to wipe down your countertops and stove.

Set the Ambiance

Once you can look at your home and see no visual eye sores, light a candle in a few rooms of your home and set a welcoming vibe for your guests on their way.
