Making The Most Of The Warmer Months With These Activities

There’s nothing like warm weather and outdoor activities to celebrate summer. When you have the option to do things outside the possibilities of what, when and where seem to be endless. (No wonder everyone’s happier in the summer.) Tyler and I go from busy parents to very busy parents as the seasons change from cold to hot because we love staying active with the kids. And, with the heat arriving so soon, I wanted to share my favorite pastimes with you.
The Family Goes Camping

Some might argue that camping isn’t for them but those people must not have ever tried it. Or at least done it the Baltierra way. Our camping trips are just one of our many favorite summer activities.
Whenever the term ‘camping’ comes into conversation it’s natural so assume pitching a tent. And yes, that’s definitely one way to camp in the woods, on a mountain or at a campsite. However, there’s more than just that.
Some campsites have tents or little cabins already set up which allow you just show up with your things and get comfortable. Another option is attaching a camper to the back of your car. If this is a foreign object to you, it’s pretty much like an RV without the driving option. Campers have a bedroom or two, a bathroom, kitchen area, seating, showers and closet space. They give you the perfect amount of space to live in for the time being and make everything a little bit simpler, especially having kids in the mix.
RV’s are always a fun idea. Another new trend that’s become popular since the pandemic is “glamping.” Haha yes, you read that read. It’s pretty much what they call “glamorous camping.” Glamping tents are typically aesthetically pleasing and have all types of different perks depending on where you go.
While camping we love to go swimming, have bonfires, and just enjoy the outdoors really. On these trips we’re able to separate ourselves from technology and everything else going on outside of us. It’s a great environment for our family to really come together.
Swim Like The Fish

Swimming is another favorite pastime of ours. My little fishes love spending the day in our pool and lighting up the BBQ for dinner.
Having our own little body of water to play in definitely makes the aggressively hot days much more bearable. We love ramping up the energy with fun pool floats or our blow up slide. Sometimes it feels like an at-home water park, haha.
Switching Up The Scene

Outdoor activities are always a great option but we also like to switch things up and go to Downtown Detroit. The mix of lounges, dive-bars and restaurants give Tyler and I a place to spend time together, just us. It’s the perfect center for date nights and hangouts with friends.
Downtown also has the Detroit Tigers baseball stadium, an avenue of shops, food trucks and a man-made beach in the summer for our family days as well.
Do Something New This Year

Every year we have our things that we know we are going to do because it’s just in our nature. And, that’s probably most of us families I’d imagine. If you find yourself looking for something to change it up then my advice is to try something that you typically wouldn’t say yes to. Whether that be camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and so on- the list can continue forever, bring your person, your kids or the entire family on a new adventure. Being in new places together draws everyone closer and builds an unbreakable bond.
