Be The Girl Dad Your Daughters Need With These Bonding Activities and Loving Words

Yes, I know that I am not the girl dad here but lucky for me I’m married to one heck of a one, Tyler. He helped me out with brainstorming some ideas while telling me stories of his father/daughter moments with our three girls.

The big moments like the first day of school or a birthday celebration are great to share but it’s the smaller moments that carry a significance of their own. It’s the little things that occur on the day to day basis or time spent together that truly bonds a daughter with her dad.

If you’re looking for new ways to get creative when building a relationship with your little one, consider these activities.

Remember being a kid with your parents or siblings and making a game out of almost anything? There was the staring contest, 21 questions, charades, and many more fun activities we would do to pass the time. Introduce those to your girls. If you’re on a long drive, instead of sitting in silence or letting the music take over the entire time, play iSpy.

Take your little girl out on a father-daughter date once a month to teach her from a young age how she is supposed to be treated by a man.

These dates don’t need to be extravagant, just memorable. Go out for a movie and pizza after. Or, try something together that neither of you hasn’t ever done before. Have her decide the date every now and then and let these dates become your “thing” that continues as she grows up.

Come Up With A Special Handshake

There was something about a “secret handshake” growing up that always made you feel so good about your friendship with that person. It was a minute detail in your relationship but it meant so much.

Put together a special handshake with your daughter that you only do with each other. Show her how much you care about sharing this little something by remembering it and getting it just right.

Take A Little Trip

Just like the dates, this doesn’t have to be extravagant. If she likes camping, find a nearby campground (1-3 hours away) to spend a night at. You can bond in the car ride, hangout at the campground and do all of her fun activities and finish the night by watching the stars.

If the outdoors isn’t her thing then do a staycation in a nearby city and go see a theater play or go somewhere with a bunch of games.

Teach Her To Know How Valuable She Is

Dads are a daughters first impression of a man. What they learn from him they will carry with them into their relationships therefore, it’s important to form a bond built on trust and genuine love.

Each day, remind your daughter that her value is not measured by how much money she has, what she wears or the car she drives but instead it’s about who she is at the core. Help her understand that she is beautiful beyond her looks.

The most important thing of all however is that you love your daughter(s) unconditionally and no matter what, you will always be in their corner wanting what’s best for them.
